A moonlit city, a quiet rooftop, and a character caught between stillness and danger. I wanted to turn this illustration into a living cinematic moment rather than simply add movement to it. The animation brings subtle life to the character, drifting petals, hair, atmosphere and the neon city below while keeping the original composition and mood intact. The contrast between the calm moonlight, wet rooftop and chaotic city lights is what gives the scene its feeling. Project story I wanted to turn this scene into a high-quality cinematic moment while keeping the atmosphere and composition of the original artwork intact. The moonlit rooftop, glowing city and quiet expression already had a strong mood, so I wanted the animation to feel subtle and natural rather than overly animated. The idea was to make the scene feel like a moment that was already happening, with the environment and character quietly coming to life around it. Workflow I started by developing the concept and deciding what kind of cinematic moment I wanted the scene to capture. From there, I worked through the composition, character, environment, lighting and overall visual direction before generating the initial illustration. I refined the image through several iterations until the composition, details, colours and atmosphere felt right. Once the final illustration was established, I planned the movement around what was already happening in the scene rather than changing the composition. I then animated the character and environment with subtle motion, focusing on depth and atmosphere, before editing and polishing the final short-form piece.
